So some of you may know, or I may have mentioned it before - I am a huge fan of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. For those of you out there who haven't heard, The LBD is a web series adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, recontextualised into our time. There are a few elements that I am fond of; a) Pride and Prejudice, b) a good adaptation and c) modern times.
I've been thinking a lot about what works are in the public domain (i.e. more than one hundred years old) and I recently realised that my favourite play - Ibsen's, A Doll's House - is. Ever since my brain has been in overdrive imagining: how would it work? would Nora be a young woman in over her head or an older lady trying to grasp onto her last change at freedom? Would we see Torvald? What about the children? Which ending would I choose? So that will be something I'll be doing when time permits. Crazy.
